March 1, 2025 ~ Saturday morning (it’s oh-so nice out … w/60° and sunshine! Beware the snow coming on Tuesday!)
Today’s post isn’t around any one word – but a few associated words … anew, beginning, spring.
It is March 1st and happy meteorological and climatological Spring! This new season (according to meteorologists and climatologists) has now begun … and goes through the end of May. And while this lovely season doesn’t actually start (on our calendars) until the vernal equinox on March 20th … I’ll take Spring at any time! Buh-bye Winter – don’t let the door hit you in the ass!
And with it being March … I think of that old saying about this month, “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” Guess we’ll have to wait and see how lionesque the end of the month turns out to be. It certainly is lamb-like now!
I am having a “clean-up” morning (on my computer) – in between dog visits today – and gad! The stuff my inbox accumulates!!!!
I wrote this little piece in early January and it got lost in the files … so, with it being a new month and a new seasonal beginning, I thought it fitting to plop it in here. Have a good one!

And so I sit – this isn’t going as easily as I’d thought! I sat down twice today to compose my post and walked away empty headed and nothing but a game of online mahjong solitaire to claim for my efforts.
And now, having just sat down, once again … my eye caught a calendar page (thankfully and one that I tore out of last year’s calendar – because I liked the drawings) that has a pretty decent (albeit rather ordinary) quote …
‘Suddenly you just know it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.’ – Meister Eckhart.
And yeah, I think we’ve all had at least one of those “aha” moments when we just know it’s time to start something new (be it the beginning of a week, month, season, new year – or otherwise) and take that leap into the unknown and trust and have faith that it – whatever it is – will be okay and good and right. And, maybe hoping that a little magic or serendipity is involved, too.
As I was thinking about this/reading it over a few times – I wondered … who is this Meister Eckhart?
So, I looked him up. Thank you, Google! He was born in 1259 (yes – a while ago!) and was a German Catholic priest, theologian, philosopher, and mystic. And then I had to look up “mystic” (as my thoughts went more to the magical or supernatural) … and that is a person who seeks by contemplation to obtain unity with the absolute. Okaaay, pretty heavy stuff on a Saturday evening! In short, he was a well-respected, highly educated, master of letters/learning/language, and all around “guru” of sorts. In short – he was a pretty impressive guy who I had no knowledge of before now and I feel like an utter dolt with a feeble education!
In any case – I liked that quote and like to learn new things and isn’t that what a new beginning kind of is … a fresh path, a learning experience, a way forward?
S0 … we are beginning anew. A new day is tomorrow/a new week … in this new year. We can do anything we put our minds to … and all we have to do is begin!
Wishing you some fresh magic and a happy Spring!
